A History Of Sonshine Ministries and Captain C.O.O.C
For those of you who have never lived in the Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell area, You probably never heard of Captain C.O.O.C, Americas Politically Incorrect Superhero, Therefore I have opted to use my opening section of this web page to tell you the story of Sonshine Ministries and our humble beginnings, even though we have only been printing tracts since 1990, My vision began back in 1989 when I was working as a cook up in Sun Valley Idaho, It was there that I went to work for a man named Bill Jones up at Dollar Cabin and it was there I was invited to attend a special about Secular Rock and Roll at the Hailey Assembly of God Church one night and since I thought of myself as a Christian anyway (I accepted Jesus into my heart whent I was 11 years old) I accepted the invitation, When I got there god used that situation to really open my eyes to the truth not only of Secular Rock and Roll but also to the truth about the condition of my soul and the condition of my life.
Let's back up a little bit, The October prior to this (which was the October prior to either February or March of 1989 or so I forget). My divorce from my first wife had become final and my life had managed to go down hill from there, but that night, new hope was offered to my life and I accepted all too gladly, for God found his way back into my life and my heart and it was that night I discovered that I had a mission in life, and other things that would happen in the weeks to come would be God's way of confirming my feelings, not the least of which was a member of the Assembly of God Church prophesying to me that God had a great work for me, I know just what it was from that moment on because a few years earlier, I had met a man named Danny D. Bunn in Nampa Idaho who ran a street ministry and for a short time he even ran a Christian coffe house called Daniel's Den (not named after Danny himself who insist his name is not Daniel but Danny but based on the way that God delivered the prophet Daniel fromt the Den of lions) Danny also wrote tracts which he then had printed with the help of printing presses in the Nampa/Caldwell area. (The most memorable being Doug Severance's Artcraft Press in Nampa). I decided I was going to do the same thing even though at the time I didn't have a press at my disposal in Sun Valley, I did have plenty of tracts mad available to me by the Assembly of God Church so on my off time and days off I would go out to the slopes and share the good news with the employees, the guest and whoever would listen to me, I would get into a lot of debates with the ever prevalent liberals of the area but that just pushed me to work even harder, I was even able to drag some of my co workers to church and to bible studies, (not me but God through me) and even occasionally we would have someone come to the Lord.
Well time went on and I kept going when my turn came to have my son George for the summer, however living in the dorms I had no place for him and despite my efforts, I could not find an apartment in the nearby area which my income would allow me to afford, So in my mind this was God taking me elsewhere. Elsewhere became Nampa Idaho once again and it was there that I met up with Danny D. Bunn again, and it was there that I was taught some spiritual truths that you won't find much anymore taught in church (I don't know why YOU JUST DON'T). It was there that I wrote my first tract and had it published with the help of Danny. Eventually I got my own apartment, a job and started a phone ministry much like Danny's. At this point I had only written one tract and even though I had started what I called at the time, George Isenhart Ministries, I mostly helped Danny with his ministry. A year passed when in August of 1990, I met my now present wife Janice. Let me speak just a moment on that story.
Since I had at this point been divorced since 1988, I knew my next wife not only had to be a Christian but one who was as sold out to Jesus as I was, and would not stop me from my ministry. I have David, Solomon, and Adam to thank for showing me that wisdom because with these men as with a lot of men even today a woman preceded a fall and I didn't want that to happen. Back to Janice, she was as sold out to God as I was and was very supportive of what I did. We dated until May of 1991 and it was then that we both knew how much we really loved each other and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and as such we got married, at this point we got an apartment and moved to Caldwell and there we lived and kept the phone ministry going until May of 1992. When things got about as bad as they could at work and at this point I decided to find another job which took me to my hometown of Glenns Ferry where we tried living on minimum wage until we just couldn't anymore. It was at this point that I discovered they were hiring cooks down in Jackpot Nevada and so we moved once again and there we stayed until Jan's father passed away in September of 1992 thus we moved back to Boise for a few months to handle what would become a family problem that has followed us even to the present (We may talk about that in the future as God leads and I feel anyone can benefit from it).
We stayed there for awhile and again met with my old friend and colleague Danny D. Bunn and helped him again with his ministry in Boise, particularly in the never ending battle with the abortion issue (which is still near and dear to the hearts of both me and my wife) and even went so far as to open a Sonshine Hotline which was only on for a month and that month we spoke of advertising in the Idaho Statesman Newspaper and received some choice comments from listeners but nobody ever left a message, At this point the family problems were mounting and since I was unemployed and since Jan had just received benefits from a life insurance policy, I decided to take her to Sun Valley to get away from it all for a few days, When we got there we realized that the job hunt in Boise was going nowhere so while we were there we put applications for work in at Sun Valley and I immediately got hired as a cook and Jan as a housekeeper. Because apartment rent in Sun Valley was out of our price range and because we didn't want to live in the dorms apart from each other, We took advantage of the fact that we had quite a nest-egg from the policy and bought our first camper trailer and parked it in a local R.V. Park and there we stayed and worked until March of 1993 when we moved to Wendover, Nevada (As ski season had ended) and went to work in that town, shortly after that we moved back to Jackpot Nevada where I took up a new line of work which I found much more rewarding than cooking, that being Security. There we would stay until 1995 when our vehicle broke down and we once again were introduced to car payments and since work for Jan seemed to be non-existent, we moved back to Wendover where I went to work as a Security Officer and Jan as a Housekeeper for two months until trouble broke out in my fathers household and where my son was living there I felt a need to be closer to home, The closest I could get, You guessed it, The Nampa/Caldwell Area where I met up with my old friend, Danny D. Bunn. It was also at this time that I wnt to work for a security company and got assigned to Micron Electronics where I was introduced to computers and what could be done with them, by now Danny was writing and setting up his tracts and even a few more of mine on his own computer. I now knew that if I could get my hands on one of these I could write a number of these tracts and get the ministry back on line and finally self sufficient.
Again we started helping Danny with the Abortion Crusade in Boise and at the same time Danny introduced us to talk radio, where the subjects of the day were talked about by a host and then you could call in and express your own ideas, I started listening and calling in on a daily basis thinking I could put in a few words on behalf of the Lord God in Heaven. I had also learned of the conspiracy behind the Oklahoma Bombing as revealed by Texe Marrs. I felt taht this needed to be addressed on talk radio I started calling in to let guys like Bob Lee and Uncle Maxx (two of the leading Conservative talk radio guys at the time) who also were addressing these issues on a regular basis. It was at this time that another conservative national talk show host Rush Limbaugh came on his television show and stated not in so many words that people who thought our Government was involved in these sort of conspiracies were a bunch of kooks, this may have been at the time the only thing he ever said that I didn't agree with and it was at this time and for this reason I took on the nickname Captain C.O.O.C America's Politically Incorrect Superhero (C.O.O.C stands for Concerned Over Our Church, Country, Children) and in the summer of 1995 premired under that name on Bob Lee's Boise on Line on KFXD and later on the Uncle Maxx Talk Show also at that time on a local radio station, but I didn't stop there. I shortly thereafter came up with the ski mask costume. The Captain C.O.O.C Hotline was up and going where once again I started speaking about the issues of the day and started my newsletter (of which before the premire in May of 1997 only one was written, Now of course they are written either every month or every two months as the Lord leads, don't forget to order yours on the home page page by emailing or calling me at the address and number given) and even went out to Planned Parenthood in the guise of Captain C.O.O.C. This went on until because of what I feel was a conspiracy, Bob Lee's show was cancelled and a few months later, so was Uncle Maxx's show, around the same time January of 1996 things happened where things were not working out at work, and things brought me back to Twin Falls Idaho and back to work in Jackpot Nevada.
Although I had purchased an older computer and was able to continue on tracts, The newsletter was put on the back burner until May of 1997, God blessed us with enough money for a newer and better computer which would once again allow us to start up the newsletter (and now the web page) We hope you will enjoy it and we hope it will inspire you, challenge, and I hope it will lead you to ask a lot of questions and send a lot of comments. Additionally we hope to get it out to those who are not aware of current events. On this web page we will tell you things the media doesn't want you to know.we will also bring you spiritual truths from the word of God, The King James Bible, and reprints from tracts I have written and passed out over the last 7-8 years. We also hope to bring you stories from fellow Christian brothers and sisters, testimonies, if you will, to Gods infinite love for his people and the miracles that he is still doing even to this very day.
